The Russian tours often include cruiser Aurora in the city-tour program. The battleship was designed in the end of the 19th century not far from St. Petersburg in the town of Izhora. The ship was launched in May 1900 in the presence of the whole family of Emperor Nicholas the Second. Only three similar cruisers were built. And the revolutionary ship acquired its combat merits even during the Russo-Japanese War.
✓ Aurora is a warship, so in its equipment there were many artillery cannons and even torpedo installations. And during the Great Patriotic War the battleship was equipped with anti-aircraft guns. This is a page of pride in the history of the cruiser Aurora. It was not an easy time for the cruiser: at the moment of the liberation of Leningrad it was half-submerged in the Gulf of Finland off the coast of Oranienbaum. But thanks to the heroism of the crew, the cruiser survived. Aurora ship is the symbol of the Russian revolution and truly belongs to the city’s panorama, it is dear to the hearts of the city-dwellers and the visitors whatever their views on the revolution. All Saint Petersburg excursions feature the ship.
Avrora walking tour with private guide in St. Petersburg is interesting not only for the event content, but also for the visual
Each room of the museum is dedicated to a stage in the history of the ship museum: an exhibition about the history of construction, about participation in wars and armed actions, about the crew, about that fatal shot on 25.10.1917. In one of the rooms is the anchor chain of Aurora – it impresses everyone, especially children.
☞ But if past events do not always capture, then the details from everyday life definitely attract interest. The hall about the life of personnel shows personal belongings, including dishes and clothes of Russian sailors of the 19th century. Special attention should be paid to the question of the religious component on the revolutionary ship until the year 17 of the recently departed century: there was such a position as a ship priest and the leadership took care that the sailors served the church service even in campaigns, for which there was a ship church.
