Peter and Paul cathedral in the Peter and Paul fortress – important tourist information
You can see the original fresco “Deisis of the apostles Peter and Paul before Jesus Christ”, created by P. Titov. The fresco is located on the western facade of the Peter and Paul cathedral, the facade is also decorated with six pilasters on both sides, and the dome with the cupola.
It was constructed in the very beginning of the XVIII century and still preserves the spirit of those times. By constructing the Peter and Paul cathedral, Peter the Great wanted to create the most impressive cathedral in the capital. It may seem astonishing, but the cathedral is 61 meters long. The belfry of the Peter and Paul cathedral serves as a point of reference for the citizens of Saint-Petersburg. In order not to miss the most interesting things and find out many amazing facts about the cathedral, we recommend you to book a tour with a St.-Petersburg personal guide.
